Design for Sales Enablement

Empowering people, enabling sales

Design for Sales Enablement was my graduation project as a Communication Design student at the National Institute of Design, Madhya Pradesh. I worked with SmartQ, a B2B foodtech company offering cafeteria management solutions, to explore how design could support and streamline B2B sales.

The Need

DESIGN BRIEF: Develop a comprehensive suite of marketing and sales enablement materials to support SmartQ’s B2B2C sales funnel.

A dedicated designer was onboarded to support the sales team by providing them with relevant resources and material to help them sell more effectively and efficiently.

My Approach

I followed a user-journey-based approach, working closely with the primary users i.e. our sales team, to understand

their flow from data collection to deal closure.

These insights helped the sales enablement team uncover key gaps and opportunities where we could make a meaningful difference.

The Solution

A set of sales enablement material was developed- from proposal decks, to email signatures, company profiles; in addition to informative sessions and regular updates.

The resources were organised and made easily accessible through a central repository.

Impact & Learnings

The sales team appreciated the efforts and made use of the material, which helped them in their sales process.

I learnt about marketing, the complexities of B2B sales, targeted communication and cross-functional collaboration. Exploring this new field was a valuable experience.

Neither me, nor anyone around me had even heard of a thing such as 'sales enablement' until I got this project.

I loved working on this project, and I love talking about it! I’ve only shared a small part here due to the confidential nature of the sales strategy. If you’re curious about the process or want to chat about design × sales, feel free to reach out. Always happy to discuss more :)

Big thanks to my mentors and teammates—Bhaskar, Manu, Vanshika, Jay, and Vamsee—for their invaluable contribution to this project. I’m also deeply grateful to the SmartQ sales team, and everyone at SmartQ and NID MP who supported and guided me throughout.

I'm always up for interesting (and boring) conversations about design, culture, and life!
